⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There are no wallflowers or compromised, forced marriages here! The hero, George Hawkins may be a rake, but ultimately he is a master thief. Jane Scott is an antiquities expert with a tragic past. After seduction and betrayal there is comradeship, hope, and a happily ever after.
George was a criminal and he owned it. He was self assured. He knew the consequences of his occupation would eventually catch up with him. He is desperate to find another way of life and to be a better man. His self assurance and want of redemption is what drew me to him. Jane was educated and experienced. She had been burned in the past and was cautious except when it came to George. Their attraction and passion was evident from the very beginning. I admired Jane’s intelligence and her spunk.
The plot was a refreshing change of pace. It was so different than the usual storylines in this genre. It was a fun adventure. It moved quickly and kept my interest. The interaction between the characters was sharp and enthralling. It was a fast paced, passionate, love story and adventure. Anyone looking for a change of pace in historical romance should pick up this book. An excellent read!
I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout, this is my honest, voluntary opinion.
This is the second book of The Rogues Of The Road series. The first installment, a novella called Rogue For Hire appeared in the Christmas collection Have Yourself A Merry Little Scandal. I read that novella and it instantly caught my attention. I loved the story and quickly put the author on my to be read list. This story starts up where the last one finished off. The books are about a group of friends with criminal activities and the ladies that tame them. I had really been wanting to read more from this author. This book did not disappoint. I look forward to the rest of this series and will definitely be reading her backlist. Until next time…keep reading!
