The Dishonored Viscount by Sophie Barnes

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Dishonored Viscount is a beautiful, haunting story that I didn’t want to end.  This book takes you on a journey of struggle, hope, and all-consuming love.  It is an excellent example of forbidden love and undeniable passion.  This is a book that brilliantly displays the powerful healing qualities of love.

I must first disclose a warning, this book contains a graphic description of painful surgery.  Marcus Berkley has been stripped of his title and ostracized due to a heinous crime committed by his father.  Marcus has pulled himself from despair to become the foremost doctor in eye surgery.  Lady Louise has struggled with her vision since childhood, always knowing complete blindness was a possibility.  Going against her father’s wishes, Louise goes through a complicated surgery performed by Marcus that could save her eyesight.  A passion and tender love develop through this ordeal that ignites the page.

I admired how Marcus didn’t wallow in what he had lost; instead, he made something productive of himself.  Marcus’ desire to heal and his unselfishness and acceptance of his past resonated with me.  Louise was an outstanding, quietly fierce character.  Her willpower and determination were awe-inspiring.  Louise withstood pain and anger stoically and with grace and kindness.

Marcus fought his instant attraction to Louise for what he considered her good.  Marcus loved Louise so much that he couldn’t subject her to the scorn and hatred he faced from society.  Louise’s unfailing belief in her love for Marcus took my breath away.  The passion and love the couple share are genuine.

The plot unfolded perfectly at the right pace and with emotional depth.  My attention was caught in the first chapter.  The couple’s journey was perilous. However, the story was intimate and written with loving care.  The Dishonored Viscount is the eighth book in the Diamonds In The Rough series.  This story is a sweeping tale of how the power of love can withstand all obstacles.  Although tragic and fraught with peril at times, the grit and determination of the couple were fascinating.  This book left me breathless.  I enjoyed the struggle and redemption qualities of the book.  This book is a fantastic read that touched me on an elemental level.  This is a story of how sacrifice can lead to undeniable love.  I recommend this book wholeheartedly; get ready for an intense, gratifying read!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
