The Winters family will always have a special place in my heart. However, I had to make room for the Suttons! Outrageously dangerous, improper, and sexy, this family brings a grittier, elemental feel that grabs your attention on page one.
Those who read my reviews understand what I mean when I say this book had me at gaming hell owner! I love a good gaming hell! Jasper Sutton is the epitome of a scoundrel. Ruthless and powerful, Jasper rules the underworld. I was fascinated with Jasper’s journey through this book. Sometimes a writer changes a character drastically from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other. Rather than fundamentally changing, Jasper evolves. He grows, adding qualities and depth while staying true to himself. Jasper is a scoundrel through and through, and I wouldn’t have him any other way, yet he learns that he has a heart and a capacity to love. The muted growth rather than drastic change gives Jasper an earthy, organic feel. Jasper was a spectacular character.
Lady Octavia held her own too! Octavia was rash, willful, and spunky. I loved her spontaneity and feistiness. Octavia sparkled and stood out throughout the novel. Octavia’s qualities are exactly what Jasper needs. Her enormous heart and an unbridled passion are a perfect match to Jasper’s sordid ways.
The couple has that special spark of passion. The romance had a raw sensuality that gave grit and urgency to their scenes together. Jasper and Octavia’s connection had the combustible energy of fireworks.
The secondary characters were colorful as well. Jasper’s rough around the edges twin daughters were adorable and stole every scene. Scarlett Scott writes epic romances centered around family dynamics, the best I have ever read. The writing was flawless, and the characters were unforgettable. Sutton’s Spinster is the first book of the Sinful Suttons series, a spinoff of the Wicked Winters novels, and this book blows expectations out of the water. Just when I thought this world of the Winter’s couldn’t get better, Jasper Sutton walked into my life! This story is powerful, visceral, and passionate. Sutton’s Spinster exceeded all my expectations, bravo Scarlett Scott! As always, I was mesmerized by a beautiful, rich story with plenty of passion and heart.
