Hello, fellow romance lovers! I am glad to say goodbye to hot, humid July! Especially when my air conditioner went out, it took two weeks to replace! 🥵 I feel I am finally back into my “groove” with reviewing and my blog. April and May were rough months, and I am glad to be back in the world of the healthy and back in the USA! I am delighted to announce I have hit 350 posts! As I stated last month, I am considering branching into romance to cover more than just historical romance. I want to include paranormal romance and contemporary romance. If this does happen, I’ll have to re-brand and change around the site itself, which is something I have wanted to do – but that takes a lot of time! I want to ask my followers what they think of me branching out to different genres in romance. Is it a good idea? Would you read books/my reviews that are outside the historical romance genre? I am eager to hear your comments. Please, if you have a moment, leave some feedback – I take what my followers want seriously!
I was a reading machine in July; I read and reviewed nineteen books! I am being careful in giving five-star reviews, but the quality of many of these books cannot be ignored. I had eleven five-star reviews, two four-and-a-half-star reviews, four four-star reviews, and two three and one half-star reviews. I had the honor of working with two authors I had not read. I did blog features for their latest series. Emily Windsor’s The Governess Chronicles and Ellie St. Clair’s Remingtons Of The Regency series. I am so pleased to have worked with these two amazing authors, and I am excited to review more of their books in the future! I also did blog tours for Remember Love by Mary Balogh and The Rake’s Daughter by Anne Gracie.

July Book Of The Month!

I had many books this month that could have been the book of the month for July. I finally went with my heart and chose the book that stood out because of its uniqueness in plot and characters. Always Be My Duchess is the book of the month for July. Congratulations, Amalie Howard! You wrote a fantastic romance whose characters touched my heart and a storyline that resonated with me on many levels. I have been a fan of Amalie Howard for years; her books are always an instant read for me. I love her complex characters and unusual plots. Always Be My Duchess has a hero, Lysander, who has a mental-behavioral disorder. Lysander has difficulty discerning and expressing emotions. Having had experience with this disorder, I felt the author did a beautiful job in creating a man who has challenges but rises above them to be a force to be reckoned with in both society and business. Genevieve is exactly Lysander’s opposite; she is emotional and has a temper. Genevieve also is intelligent and empathetic. Watching the couple’s relationship unfold is mesmerizing. This book is quality writing at its best. Also, I will point out that Lysander’s favorite book is Wuthering Heights, which won me over instantly since it is also my favorite book! My review of Always Be My Duchess is below. I eagerly look forward to the next book in the series!
My Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Always Be My Duchess is a fun, romantic read with passion, depth, and heart. I always enjoy Amalie Howard’s books. Lysander and Genevieve are lovely characters; I was instantly drawn to the couple. Lysander is an extremely wealthy Duke and a highly successful businessman. Lysander is brilliant and has a mental-behavioral disorder. Lysander has difficulty discerning and expressing emotions, among other challenges. People underestimate Lysander and perceive him as cold and stern. Lysander is a fantastic character. Lysander’s favorite novel is Wuthering Heights, something we have in common!
Genevieve is a ballerina down on her luck. Genevieve has integrity, intelligence, and a big heart. Genevieve is feisty and has a temper. She is Lysander’s exact opposite. Genevieve’s passionate nature confuses Lysander and frustrates her. I love Genevieve’s fire; she is Lysander’s opposite but takes effort to try to understand him.
Lysander and Genevieve set the page on fire. The couple’s chemistry is off-the-charts. Lysander and Genevieve’s romantic journey is rocky at best, but I loved going on this exciting path with them. The plot flowed well and was a page-turner. I read this book quickly, not wanting to put it down. The story has elements of the movie “Pretty Woman,” which gives the novel sparkle. Always Be My Duchess is the first book in the Taming Of The Dukes series. I am excited about this series; many secondary characters are introduced, and I can’t wait to read their stories. I eagerly look forward to the next installment! Amalie Howard creates passionate, romantic magic!
