Highland Rose by Celeste Barclay

What I love most about Celeste Barclay’s writing is the detail and organic feel her relationships showcase.  The couples in these romances take their time getting to know one another before plunging into marriage, even when it would be prudent to rush.  Blaine and Rose start rough, but it is beautiful to watch their burgeoning love story unfold.  Mired in intrigue, combative rival clans, and Rose’s insecurities, this is an action-adventure full of depth and passion.

Rose’s personality resonated with me on a personal level.  Rose has some body image insecurities she struggles to overcome throughout the novel.  I have felt the same feelings Rose had of mistrust and being someone’s joke.  I love how Blaine corrects his past mistakes with Rose and allows her time and space to heal her heart.  Blaine and Rose’s dynamic was exceptional.  No one rushes into anything, even if the situation calls for bad decisions.  Rose is allowed to be herself and explore what that encompasses – it is the greatest gift Blaine could bestow.

The connection between the couple is undeniable.  Instant attraction develops into deep-seated love; however, I loved how insecurities will pop up organically, just as they do in real life.  The passion shared between the couple was pure fire and everything I expected from a Celeste Barclay book.  The stolen sensual moments felt intimate and unique.

Highland Rose is the fourth book in The Clan Sinclair Legacy.  The plot caught my attention on page one and kept me eagerly turning the page.  Celeste Barclay always delivers a medieval romance with passion, intrigue, and action.  The familiar bonds throughout all these interconnected families create a fierce bond I love reading about.  If you’re looking for excellent medieval Scottish romance, look no further; Celeste Barclay is the queen!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through BookSprout.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
