The Taste Of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rarely does a romance come along that takes my breath away.  The Taste Of Light is such a novel.  I need better words than I have to describe how this book made me feel!  I went through the gambit of being heartbroken to being in a romantic paradise at the flip of a page.  I loved how the author played with my emotions, barely giving me time to breathe.  Pedro and Anne did more than capture my heart – they unequivocally stole it.

In full disclosure, I am reading the second book first.  Unfortunately, this fantastic series flew under my radar.  Pedro is in the first book, but I was never lost; I am going back to read the first book.  For all intents, Pedro is the villain at the beginning of this book.  However, a villain is such a shallow word for Pedro.  Pedro’s tragic choices in his past have eaten at his soul until he is hollow.  He despises the man that took the woman he thought he loved.  Pedro has lived in the darkness of his soul for too many years.

Anne, at first glimpse, is all light and naïvety.  Deep inside, Anne has the heart of a warrior.  She struggles and fights but never loses her light.  Anne surprised me with her hidden depth and infinite kindness.  What I loved most was how Anne handled violence on her terms and in her own unique, creative way – never turning to violence herself.

The only way I can describe Pedro and Anne’s love story is epic.  The book references Don Pedro and Ines de Castros’ tragic love story.  I felt this inclusion brought such richness to the reader.  I also felt a feeling of completeness in the conclusion of Pedro and Anne’s story regarding the tragic couple.

The plot was intricate and all-encompassing but never felt too complicated.  The dialogue created beautiful scenes in my imagination.  Each scene created a flawless storyline that kept me riveted to the page.  The Taste Of Light is the second book in The Winemakers series.  This is one of the best books I’ve read all year.  I loved the location, the unforgettable characters, and the heart-wrenching plot.  Giovanna Siniscalchi, where have you been?  I have needed this book in my life!  Pedro and Anne have captured my heart, and their romance is on my top ten.  I can’t wait to see where this series takes me next!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Book Sirens.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
