⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What I loved most about One Night His Lady is how it contrasts young, untried love to mature, understanding love. After one night in Gretna Green, Lucien and Eva are torn apart by lies. Four years later, the two are forced together for the shared purpose of severing their connection forever. However, as more and more truths come to light, the couple realizes how much they have changed and begin to face their past mistakes.
It is love at first sight for Lucien and Eva. Their past is shared in flashbacks, which is not my favorite way, but it worked nicely. The couple is put through numerous upheavals throughout the story. I liked how Lucien matures; he realizes he is not the only injured party. Lucien’s open heart and unconditional understanding towards Eva’s past at the ending undid me. Eva has had a horrific four years. She has many tough secrets she reveals to Lucien throughout the book. Eva’s last revelation was gut-wrenching; my heart broke for Eva.
The couple’s connection was fire. The connection grows throughout the novel as the untried couple learns more and more about each other and themselves. This romance is about forgiveness, acceptance, and moving forward. Sometimes it takes periods of painful maturity to lead us to find happiness. The plot moved a little slowly at first but picked up pace about twenty-five percent into the book. There were a lot of secrets and misdirection; it could get frustrating at times. However, the poetic love story between Lucien and Eva was perfect.
One Night His Lady is the sixth book in the Shadows And Silk series. This is a passionate, dramatic second-chance romance. Sofie Darling has created two unforgettable characters and weaved them into a story of heartbreak, redemption, and healing love. This was an intricate, spellbinding journey I will not soon forget.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
